奶奶的家乡 Grandma's Hometown
In the summer of 2018, I went back to my hometown, Huaihua. Huaihua is a small town in Hunan where my father grew up. My grandparents still live there. People in Huaihua are different from big city people; they are friendly and unpretentious. For me, the town has not changed since I was little, but one thing that has changed is my grandma. My grandma has Alzheimer’s, which affects how she remembers things. As her granddaughter, it is heartbreaking to watch. I decided to go back to the town and take photos of her. I wanted to remember, and I want her to remember as well. This project is called “Grandma's Hometown”. I want to document the town, and her spirit, because memory fades away but photos do not.
